Aver Akighir is a young woman with disability, A Nigeria business woman, philanthropist, and a disability rights advocate. Aver is the Executive Director of Hope Alive for Possibilities Initiative, Convener of Abuja/Benue Diva’s hangout, and the CEO of Aver Reality Limited, Aver is a TV reality star, media personality, and Gender expert.

In 2013 Aver studied and obtained a bachelor of arts degree in English language from the Benue state university Makurdi. Aver engaged in distance learning, she obtained a certificate in development studies from Swansea University in 2020. and a certificate in Disability Studies from the commonwealth disabled people forum in 2021. Aver founded Hope Alive for Possibilities Initiative (HAPI) to actively advocate for persons with disabilities and the Inclusion of women and girls with disabilities in politics and decision-making sectors.

Aver Akighir has been active in Nigeria Disability advocacy, having volunteered with several disabled People organizations like the Center for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD), the Peniel foundation, Inclusive Friends’ Association and lots more. In 2021, Aver took home Outstanding young leader awarded Organized by Disability Rights Advocacy Center ( Drac).

In 2019, Aver brought to life Abuja/Benue Diva’s hangout to ensure the identities of disabled women in Nigeria are not erased in popular African cultures and media spaces.

After the mandatory one-year national youth service corps, Aver engaged actively in entrepreneurship and registered Aver Reality Limited to legally operate within Nigeria. She has vast experience and capacity in managing micro-medium enterprises.
